The British Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government declared on 02.09.2024 that the CE marking for construction products will continue to be recognized in the UK.
The previously stated deadline of June 30, 2025 for CE marking in the UK has thus been lifted. Furthermore, the ministerial statement states that “… any subsequent changes to the recognition of the CE marking would be subject to a transition period of at least 2 years”.
Accordingly, the planned switch from the CE marking to a separate UKCA label is postponed indefinitely with the following justification: “… as the testing and certification capacity currently available in the UK is not sufficient to provide conformity assessment procedures to the extent that would be required, recognition of the CE marking would expire. We are also aware that ending CE marking without first reforming our national system would create barriers to trade and negatively impact supply chains for products to recognized standards.”
